Chicago has a long history as a city of creativity and craftsmanship. There is a raw quality to being part of the Chicago manufacturing industry. Businesses build identities off the knowledge of specific materials and processes that put them on the map.
They become experts. They run specialized shops. We’re especially intrigued by those who learn from that expertise and elevate it by applying it to their own creative avenues.
Zachary A. was founded on one of those outgrowths—ideas developed from old techniques, resulting in a new level of craftsmanship. Our craft is a cast resin and fiberglass process that we use to design and manufacture a large collection of unique outdoor furniture.
We want to highlight how today’s designers have built on the heritage of Chicago manufacturing to push the boundaries of a wide range of materials and processes.
So, we are inviting a group of Chicago designers, who have elevated a craft to the level of artisan manufacturing, to showcase their respective materials and processes through a showroom exhibition within our studio.
